RELOCATION & HOUSING - Our Human Resources Department will assist you with relocation packets and general information at no cost. We offer information on apartment rentals, rental houses, extended stay facilities, homebuying, mortgage information, and free maps. Additionally, we also have partnerships with several apartment locator services and realty companies that provide tours of apartment properties for a minimal fee.

APARTMENTS - Several properties, furnished and unfurnished, are available with vacancies discounted rental rates and waived security deposits for new school system employees. The Human Resources Department can provide a detailed listing of apartment properties near your school or department. BANKS - Several area banks offer a variety of saving opportunities from discounts on automobile loans to free interest checking, free online banking with Bill Payment, free Check Card, Saving Accounts, Safe Deposit Box Rental, Free 24 - hour automated account inquiries, discounts on mortgage loans and closing costs.

CELLULAR PHONE - Many providers offer discounts such as free phone, free long distance, first month free and discounts on accessories.

EMPLOYMENT AGENCY - Various partnerships provide information regarding job placement to spouses and/or roomates of new educators.

HEALTH AND FITNESS - Discounts on enrollment fees and young-adult rates are available.

HOTELS, ENTERTAINMENT & LOCAL INFORMATION - For hotel, entertainment and local information, log on to: www.visitcharlotte.com. Special discount rates at specific hotels are also available by logging on to: www.cms.k12.nc.us. Upon employment with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, intranet access to our Employee Discounts are also provided, which lists additional hotel, entertainment, casual dining, travel, shopping, movies, retail, sporting events and more.

MOVING AND STORAGE - Save on moving services from anywhere in the United States and receive discounts off boxes and storage rates. Full-service moving trucks and self-moving trucks are available.

SHOPPING - Area department and furniture stores also provide discounts to employees relocating to Charlotte, as well as, special and seasonal discounts.

TELEVISION/INTERNET CABLE - Discounts for free installation or Internet DSL discount is also available.
