Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is looking to expand its teacher workforce.  Don't miss the biggest hiring event of the year!  More than 160 schools will be interviewing and selecting candidates for licensed/certified positions including, teachers, psychologists, media specialists and school counselors.  We welcome candidates from both in and out of state but we do require that all candidates attending are eligible for a license in NC.

Who can attend:

  • Candidates with an active or expired Teaching License (in or out of state)

  • Candidates who have graduated or will graduate from an approved Teacher Education program by June 2019

  • Candidates currently teaching in NC under a Lateral Entry License

  • Licensed Support Staff (e.g. Counselors, Psychologists, Speech Language Pathologists, Media Specialists, etc.)

  • CMS Teachers currently on an End of Year (EOY) contract who have not been declared.

Who should not attend:

  • We will not be staffing for school administration (Principals and Assistant Principals), central office, auxiliary, or unlicensed positions during this event.

  • Additionally, this event is not a transfer fair for internal (CMS) teachers - full time internal teachers are not eligible for this event.

Is there another option for someone without a license to attend?  What about candidates eligible for the NC Residency License?
We will not be able to accomodate individuals who are not currently in a pathway to licensure at this event.  We will have a July event specifically for those who are interested in alternative licensure through the Residency License.  The Residency License will replace lateral entry as the alternative pathway to NC licensure.  This is a one year license that is renewable twice.  Candidates must:

  • Be enrolled in a recognized Educator Preparation Program (EPP);

  • Hold a bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 2.7;

  • Have completed coursework relevant to the requested licensure area OR passed the relevant content area examination; and

  • Meet all other requirements established by the State Board, including completing pre-service requirements (12 hours) prior to teaching.
