2012 Graduates: Motivating the world one word at a time

North Mecklenburg High principal Matthew Hayes describes Trikeria Johnson as an “exemplary leader”.  She is the senior class president and a member of the National Honor Society. She is also on the debate team, which is not surprising given her love of words.

Trikeria is a gifted poet.  Her messages of encouragement and motivation are heard through her lyrics and spoken word performances at school and in the community.  Whether she is speaking about growing up without a father or rapping the gospel, Trikeria has a message that she is determined to share with the world.

“I am determined to have my voice heard around the world and to be known for doing phenomenal things. I want to be the voice that someone once was for me.”

More than anything else, Trikeria is driven to succeed in her studies and in life. Trikeria plans to attend Howard University and major in psychology with a minor in communications. She wants to be a motivational speaker.

“There are things I’ve had to learn and experience to get me to this place,” said Trikeria.

She said one of the most important things she’s had to learn is how to be able to manage the many activities she’s involved in.  Trikeria is an IB student and an active church member.  In addition to her studies, Trikeria is on the track and field team and a member of Future Business Leaders of America.
