The six students on the Sharon Elementary Odyssey of the Mind team consider themselves best friends.
It may be they’ve bonded while preparing for local, state and world competitions. It may be they all have the creative minds needed to win.
It could also be that, unlike many, they all understand exactly what Odyssey of the Mind is.
CMS has 10 teams from six schools in the world competition for Odyssey of the Mind, happening this week at Iowa State University.
Teams from across the globe meet, bond and compete with one another.
As the Sharon students readied for their trip, they explained – or tried to explain – what OM is all about.
“It includes a lot of thinking and teamwork,” said fifth-grader Charlie Reiney. “It’s really complicated.”
“You try and explain it to people,” added fifth-grader Jack Walker, “and they never understand it.”
