Beverly Woods, Community House are on top of the world 
 

Two CMS schools placed first in the 2012 Odyssey of the Mind World Competition.

The teams from Beverly Woods Elementary (pictured left) and Community House Middle (pictured below) won their areas at the competition, held last week in Ames, Iowa. This is the second year in a row that Beverly Woods has won at the world competition.

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and world level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program.

The Beverly Woods Elementary team that won in the To Be or Not To Be problem includes:

The Community House Middle team that won in the To Be or Not To Be problem includes:

  • Neil Patel

CMS had 10 teams from six schools in the world competition for Odyssey of the Mind, including five teams from Myers Park High and teams from Carmel Middle and Sharon and Torrence Creek elementary schools. Carmel Middle's team and two Myers Park teams also placed in the competition.
