Board approves new principals at Piney Grove Elementary and Bradley Middle

At its Aug. 8 meeting, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education approved the appointment of William Loren Campbell as principal at Piney Grove Elementary and Amy L. Mims as principal at Bradley Middle.

Campbell has been an assistant principal, teacher and math facilitator at Bruns Academy since 2012. He was a teacher-leadership development manager for Teach For America South Carolina from 2011-2012. Campbell has also been a teacher at Statesville Road Elementary and in Jackson County in Florida. He earned his bachelor's degree in elementary education from St. Andrew's Presbyterian College. Campbell earned a master's degree in education from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

Mims has been assistant principal and dean of students at Independence High since 2012. She was an academic facilitator, principal intern and teacher at Mint Hill Middle from 2003-2012. She taught at Northeast Middle from 1996-2003. She received her bachelor's degree in biology from Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C. She received a certification in secondary administration from the University of South Carolina and her master's degree in educational leadership from Wingate University.
