The Mecklenburg PTA Council, the Arts and Science Council and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Association of Educators have partnered to help parents become more engaged in their child’s education and school.
The organizations will hold the 2012 parent engagement fall conference on Saturday, Aug. 25, from 8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m., at the UNCC Center City Building.
The free conference will offer 13 workshops and parents will discuss topics including the PTA president and the principal, CMS Common Core and how and why parents should engage in their child’s education. In addition, Superintendent Heath E. Morrison will be the keynote speaker during the second general session, which begins at 12:30 p.m.
The Greenway Park Elementary glee club will perform and there will be special activities for students ages six to 18. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided for all participants.
The UNCC Center Building is located at 320 E. 9th St. Free parking is available at First Ward Creative Arts Academy (715 N. Caldwell St.)
