A memorial service for Dr. Bowe was held on Feb. 4 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Several hundred people united to reflect on his life and celebrate his impact on our community. His students expressed admiration through their gifts of song and dance and his friends recalled the special moments they shared.
Following the ceremony, the Northwest School of the Arts community walked back to the school and his students left goodbye messages for their champion and friend on a memorial wall.
"The Northwest family needed this memorial to celebrate the life and memory of Dr. Bowe—to join everyone together for a positive, uplifting expression of their love."
--Dylan Marshall, English department chair, NWSA
"The memorial for Dr. Bowe was overwhelming to me, when I looked out to see essentially the entire school sitting in the church to honor a man who was our hero. As much as Dr. Bowe's family feels his loss, I hope that they also feel a sense that they have gained a new NWSA family."
