Students gave motivating and inspiring musical and dance performances associated with the theme of being a winner.
“I want all of you when you leave here to focus on today and tomorrow, not why you may have failed yesterday,” said Smith. “Don’t miss out on opportunities to better yourself.”
Smith discussed a three-step plan with students for being a winner in life. Smith stressed the importance of focusing on the future. Through this focus on the future, she encouraged students to develop a plan to achieve goals. In developing this plan, she highlighted the importance of recruiting supporters of your goals and plan.
“College will become a whole new chapter in your life,” Smith said. “It will be important to have people that support you and believe in your plan to win.”
Students enjoyed the event and were able to take something positive away.
“I really liked what she said about setting goals, but also developing a plan to make sure you reach those goals,” said a freshman student.
