School Psychology Awareness Week (SPAW) is Nov. 13-17. This year's theme is Power Up! Be a Positive Charge. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools school psychologists' work helps students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Psychologist collaborate with educators, parents and other professionals to create supportive learning environments for all students and to strengthen connections between home and school.
There are 70 CMS school psychologists, assigned to two or three schools, who serve students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. They are mental health specialists who have advanced graduate degrees with training in both psychology and education.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District website (WWW.CMS.K12.NC.US) is in the process of
