Eighteen year olds Janet and Lisa Hoang have managed to accomplish it all: success, smarts and style. The West Mecklenburg High twins, are on top of the world with their corporation, Amour L.N.H. The brand features a haute couture line of women’s and men’s clothing. Lisa designs the fashions and her sister, Janet, handles the public relations.

“I design couture dresses that can take up to 70 hours to create, but my rule is to never design during testing periods,” said Lisa.

Lisa and Janet didn’t let their business stand in the way of their academics. In fact, both students graduated with honors on Wednesday, June 13, at the Bojangles’ Coliseum.

“As a freshman I was making handbags. I sold 25 handbags for about $50 each. The business grew from there,” said Lisa.

Lisa's job is to work the thread and needle for the brand, but Janet is often referred to as the backbone of the company. She assists in making executive decisions and plans the marketing strategy.

“A company is all about the image you portray,” Janet said. “It’s all a balancing act that isn’t so much about our ages but about the quality we deliver.” 

In the fall, Lisa will attend N.C. State. Janet is currently undecided.
