CMS closed for students Tuesday, Jan. 26. Code A day for employees starting at 10 a.m.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will be closed for students tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 26. Employees will follow the procedures (attached) for a Code A: Optional Teacher Workday beginning at 10 a.m.

CMS has been working diligently with North Carolina and Charlotte departments of transportation to help service roadways and school campuses as a result of the severe weather storm that has impacted many areas throughout the East Coast. We’ve had more than 50 snow plows out today since 6 a.m. and have been able to clear more than 100 school campuses of icy conditions. However, more than 50 of our campuses across the county still have icy bus and staff parking lots, sidewalks, school entryways and mobile unit areas that pose a safety challenge. Therefore, with safety in mind, CMS will be closed for students tomorrow and employees will follow the procedures for a Code A: Optional Teacher Workday beginning at 10 a.m.

The After-School Enrichment Program (ASEP) will be closed. All school events and athletic activities are canceled. The make-up day for students will be Monday, Apr. 25, except for Druid Hills Academy and Thomasboro Academy which will not make up the student day.

CMS maintenance and support crews will continue working throughout the evening and tomorrow to clear the remaining campuses.
