Ann Clark, Superintendent

Main Points
Item A:  The State Office of Human Resources added a holiday for all state employees, which created the need to increase by one the number of holidays designated in the 2015-2016 CMS academic calendar for all employees.  As a result of this change, August 17 would become a teacher workday and November 25 a holiday.
Item B:  Staff recommends adding professional development early release days to the 2015-2016 academic calendar.  Input from employees across CMS indicated strong support for quarterly yearly release days for professional learning.  These professional learning hours would be for school use, planned by school leadership, aligned to the School Improvement Plan and vetted and approved by learning community staff.  Central office workdays would remain during the week teachers return to work in August and on elementary/secondary days in January/February.
