Main Points
This project is for the renovation of two existing classrooms into science classrooms and the repurposing of the tutor room for a new prep room.  Bids were received March 31, 2015. Staff recommends approval of contract to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, D.E. Brown Construction, Inc., in the amount of $389,848.  The project includes removal of the existing casework and selective demolition of the floor slab for new drainage plumbing; installation of new science casework, new plumbing fixtures and acid resistant drain piping with acid neutralization tank; minor mechanical renovation to meet ventilation requirements; minor electrical rewiring to provide outlets at teaching stations; two new doors in existing openings for the prep room; and new casework and shelving for the prep room. All work is to be performed in accordance with the standard terms and conditions outlined in the contract.

SCHEDULE: Estimated completion date August 2015.
