The initiative's objective is to provide school-level personnel with relevant, timely and accurate information via web-based portals and student performance reports, while building the capacity to use the information to improve student performance and enhance instructional leadership.

The Center of Research & Evaluation conducts and reviews research to inform district decision-making about the efficacy of programs and initiatives designed to increase and support student achievement. The center is also responsible for the administration of surveys designed to collect feedback from students, parents and teachers. External research projects proposed by university faculty, graduate students, and other entities are reviewed by Center staff for sound methodology and potential benefit to CMS.
