IB Middle Years Program (IBMYP)

The IB Middle Years Program (MYP) spans grades 6 through 10, split between middle schools and high schools in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.  Students are required to study eight subject areas over the five years of the MYP:  Language & Literature; Language Acquisition (a second language); Individuals & Societies (social studies); Sciences; Mathematics; Arts; Physical & Health Education; and Design.  Within these subject areas, schools focus on meeting state and local curriculum requirements while incorporating global contexts and key concepts which span multiple subjects.  

According to the Learner Profile, an IB learner is knowledgeable, a thinker, a communicatorreflective, a risk-takerprincipledopen-mindedcaring, an inquirer, and balanced.

In addition to meeting curriculum requirements, MYP students must complete service hours, a Community Project in grade 8, and a Personal Project in grade 10.​
