Title I: Pre-Kindergarten Programs

The Charlotte Mecklenburg Pre-Kindergarten Programs are designed to provide a child-centered, literacy focused curriculum in order to ensure that children are prepared for success in Kindergarten and beyond. Four year olds who have been identified through a screening and selection process participate in the full day programs.

The Pre-Kindergarten Programs currently serves over 4,000 students in 235 classrooms. The Bright Beginnings program, a Title One program, is located in elementary schools across the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system. The NC Pre-K program includes 50 classrooms located in 26 community based high quality child care sites.

The Pre-Kindergarten curriculum, Opening the World of Learning, offers academic, personal, and interpersonal experiences that are essential to school success.
