Title I: Pre-Kindergarten Programs

The Charlotte Mecklenburg Pre-Kindergarten Programs are designed to provide a child-centered, literacy focused curriculum in order to ensure that children are prepared for success in Kindergarten and beyond. Four year olds who have been identified through a screening and selection process participate in the full day programs.

The Pre-Kindergarten Programs currently serves over 4,000 students in 230 classrooms. The Bright Beginnings program, a Title One program, includes 5 pre-kindergarten centers and 14 elementary schools in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system. The More at Four program includes 55 classrooms located in 24 community based high quality child care sites.

The Pre-Kindergarten curriculum, Opening the World of Learning, offers academic, personal, and interpersonal experiences that are essential to school success.
