The Superintendent, or designee, Community Use Assistant and school Principals, are each authorized to approve the use of school facilities on behalf of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education in accordance with the Board policy and the rules and regulations. Principals may, but are not required, perform all duties designated herein as being the responsibility of the Community Use Assistant.
The Principal or designee shall be in charge of the building(s) whenever opened for public use.
Every group (except School-related Groups) must present to the Principal or designee, upon request, a fully executed Contract (including all attachments thereto) in order to gain access to the school facilities each scheduled day of the Contract.
The contracted groups does not have the right to request services of any kind, including but not limited to supervision of the users, from the Principal or designee representing the school during the contracted hours.
The Contract is for the use of building space and associated furniture only. This does not include the use of sound equipment, microphones, overhead projectors, kitchen equipment, etc. Additionally, the use of lockers, showers, apparatus and other athletic equipment belonging to the school is not permitted.
Concession rights shall be reserved for the school where the facilities are being used unless otherwise granted by the Principal.
If school activities are cancelled due to inclement weather, the community use of schools is cancelled as well. A credit, refund or make-up time will be issued as appropriate equal to the amount of time lost only.
The applicant will be responsible to pay fees for each facility it wishes to use under the Contract. Therefore, for example, if the applicant wishes to use the multipurpose room, the cafeteria and a classroom at a given school, the applicant shall be responsible to pay the appropriate fees for each room the applicant expects to use.
