After two years of large-scale changes in the bell schedules for schools, CMS is making few changes for the 2012-2013 school year. Only 10 schools will have a change in starting and ending times. Although few in number, these changes will allow us to realize significant cost savings – about $624,000 – by using fewer buses more efficiently. As has been the case in recent years, money remains tight in state and local budgets, and that affects CMS funding, too. Finding more efficient ways to operate our buses means we can use the money we have at the school level for teachers, support staff and other resources that benefit our students.
