Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools does a great job acknowledging our students and employees. Check out some stories that celebrate our work!
We want every student, parent, caregiver, visitor and fellow employee to feel welcomed, expected, valued and appreciated every day. Consistently delivering this experience starts with each and every CMS employee – from every teacher, bus driver, cafeteria worker, counselor and engineer to every principal, administrative assistant, central office staff member and executive team member, including the superintendent.
We all play a role in caring, communicating and connecting in a way that:
Exemplifies our employee core values every day
Makes CMS a more welcoming, inclusive and caring place for everyone
Helps all CMS staff and students feel physically, socially, mentally and emotionally safe and supported
Helps each of our diverse learners reach their full academic potential, preparing them to thrive in a global, multicultural workplace and society
Compensation
A compensation range is listed for all of our non-instructional positions (exempt and non-exempt) and is determined based on related education and job experience. For instructional positions, compensation is a state rate based on your degree level and the number of completed years of experience as determined by the NC Department of Instruction. Mecklenburg County offers its teachers a local supplement (one of the highest county supplements in the state.) which adds a percentage to the state rate. Salary Schedules can be viewed

Comprehensive Benefit Package
CMS strives to provide employees with the most competitive benefit package in the industry. We take pride in being able to offer comprehensive and affordable benefits. Visit our Employee Benefits web page for more details by clicking

State Retirement System
Permanent full-time employees are covered by a defined benefit plan with the North Carolina Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System. Employees are required to contribute 6% of their monthly salary through payroll deduction. CMS also contributes on your behalf to the State Retirement System in an amount that is legislated annually. Your contributions are paid with pre-tax dollars, thereby reducing current state and federal income taxes.
