2021-2022 Future Enrollment and Lottery

KEY DATES


ROUND I

Monday, November 9, 2020- Sunday, December 13, 2020: New Student Enrollment Period for Round I Lottery. 

Complete new student enrollment packets can ONLY be submitted to the Student Placement Department via U.S. mail, fax or email. 

Beginning November 9th, student enrollment packets can be submitted to cmsfutureenrollments@cms.k12.nc.us 


Any student enrollment paperwork submitted via U.S. mail must be postmarked by Saturday December 12, 2020. 

 

late- November 2020- mid-December, 2020: Student Assignment Notification letters begin arriving in homes. 

If you do not receive your Student Notification letter by December 16, 2020, please call Student Placement (980-343-5335). 

 

November 30, 2020-December 21, 2020 at 10:00 PM: Application period for the Round I choice lottery. 

 

early January 2020: Lottery notifications letters for Round I choice lottery arrive in homes. 


ROUND II

December 14, 2020- January 15, 2021: New Student Enrollment Period for Round II Lottery. 

Complete new student enrollment packets can ONLY be submitted to the Student Placement Department via U.S. mail, fax or email. 

 

early- January 2021-January 22, 2021: Student Assignment Notification letters begin arriving in homes. 

If you do not receive your Student Notification letter by January 22, 2021, please call Student Placement (980-343-5335). 

 

January 25, 2021- February 5, 2021 at 10:00 PM: Application period for the Round II choice lottery. 

 

mid- February, 2021: Lottery notifications letters for Round II choice lottery arrive in homes. 


Students who future enroll after the district's 2nd lottery enrollment deadline

January 18, 2021- June 4, 2021: 

The Office of Student Assignment & School Choice will continue to receive and enter enrollment packets for home school placement for the 2021-2022 school year.  

After June 4, 2021, enrollment information needs to be taken to the home school based on the residential address of the biological parent or legal guardian. 


 


Reassignment & Transfer Period

February 22, 2021- March 15, 2021*: Request for Reassignment Period for the district. 

*Students brand new or re-enrolling to the district after this date will have 10 business days after enrolling to submit a request for reassignment for the 2021- 2022 school year.  Application does not guarantee approval. 

 

March 16, 2021- June 11, 2021**: Request for Transfer period in order to receive an answer by the start of school. 

**Students brand new, re-enrolling or current CMS students can apply to schools not listed on the Superintendent's Closed School List.  Application does not guarantee approval.
