Please note: CMS no longer has a School Quality Review program. This page is for historical purposes only.
The School Quality Review program was designed to develop a clear picture of the quality of education provided in a school. It assisted the school in establishing a clear view of its strengths, areas for development, challenges and successes.
The two-day review was led by a team of three highly experienced and trained educators. Each school received a qualitative investigation of six criteria:
Each criterion was reviewed using a detailed rubric and a triangulation of perspectives: data analysis, observation, and questioning. The review included ten classroom observations and four questioning sessions with select groups of students, teachers, administrators and parents. Reviewers also observed a collaborative meeting of teachers and held several meetings with the principal.
The review required the school to prepare a Self Evaluation Form two weeks beforehand. This effort revealed the school's perception of itself and fostered a reflective discussion among the staff. A detailed final report followed the review which included a list of recommendations. Additional information was included in the documents below.
