You may be eligible for the new Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) program, to help families purchase food for children impacted by school closings due to COVID-19. The program provides a benefit on an EBT card to North Carolina families whose children are eligible for free and reduced lunch at school.
The new P-EBT program is in addition to other services families may be participating in. Families are encouraged to continue utilizing feeding programs at local school and community meal sites for free, nutritious meals for children.
Anyone approved now will be eligible for free or reduced price lunch for up to the first 30 days of the next school year or until a new application is processed. If a family does not complete a meal application within the first 30 days of the new school year their student will need money for meals beginning the 31st school day.
Students may present a copy of their eligibility letter to be considered for fee waivers for athletics, testing, college application, and driver’s education fees.
