Exceptional Children
Family Engagement
Programs for Exceptional Children is committed to having strong and open lines of communication with families. Here are the ways in which we communicate with families:

Back to School Letter

Each school year we publish a back to school letter for all families of students with disabilities. In order to receive this letter, your email address and/or mailing address must be correct in PowerSchool.

This year's letter can be found: English|Español

Round Table Meetings

Throughout the school year, the EC Department Leadership Team and the EC Parent Advisory Council will co-host Round Tables for families of students with disabilities to come together to discuss best practices, timely topics, and collaboration between schools and families.

To see the full schedule for the year, and to see the video recordings of Round Tables from earlier this year, please visit https://www.smore.com/hb8va-ec-department-round-tables

If you need specific support to be able to attend (ex. an interpreter), please let us know ahead of time by emailing ashley1.kogutkiewicz@cms.k12.nc.us or calling 343-2768 so we can plan to provide support.

To view the materials from previous Round Tables, click HERE (for 2018-2019) or HERE (for 2017-2018).

Emails and Phone Calls via ConnectED

You will receive automated messages from Programs for Exceptional Children with information about upcoming events. If you are not receiving these messages, please contact Elaine Jones, EC Parent Liaison at elaine.jones@cms.k12.nc.us or 980-343-6960.
