The CARES Act authorized the Education Stabilization Fund (ESF), which is a new appropriation of approximately $30.75 billion that creates funding streams for several distinct educational programs that address the impact of COVID-19 on educational services across the Nation.

Under these programs, the U.S. Department of Education is making financial awards available to help States to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the devastating effects of COVID-19.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools received approximately $33 million in federal funding.
