School Nutrition Services partners with schools and the community each summer to offer the Summer Food Service Program for Children. Grab and Go meals will be served Monday through Friday from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm beginning June 15 until July 31, 2020. Meals are provided in these ways:

School Programs – Breakfast and lunch are prepared fresh daily and served grab and go in a limited number of CMS schools.

Picnic Meal Delivery Program – Picnic breakfasts and lunches are freshly prepared and delivered daily to qualifying sites in Mecklenburg County. Sites requesting deliveries must have adequate on-site refrigeration and at least two adults that attend the summer meals training session. Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCA programs, Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation camps, community centers, houses of worship and others are served through this program.

CMS "Lunch Express" – School Nutrition Services freshly prepares lunch each day to serve in our "Lunch Express" Program.  In partnership with the CMS Police Department, CMS vehicles are used to deliver nutritious lunches to children in the neighborhoods where they live.  Sites are prearranged in mobile home parks and apartment complexes to bring food to children who don't have easy access to meals when school is not in session.

The CMS Summer Food Service Program has operated for more than 40 years and is the largest program in the state of North Carolina.
