National Board Support Program
National Board Certification is a rigorous, voluntary certification for teachers, school counselors, and media specialists who have completed at least three years of experience.  CMS has the 4th highest number of National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) achieving certification to-date in the United States. Research over the past 10 years indicates that students taught by NBCTs achieve at higher rates than students taught by educators never attempting National Board Certification.  The Certification process correlates directly to the North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards as well as the CMS Strategic Plan 2024. Additionally, the 12% pay differential provided by the state of North Carolina increases the likelihood that NBCTs will remain in the teaching profession.  CMS has provided a National Board Candidate Support Program since 1997. Visit our CMS candidate website to learn more about the process and how you can become a National Board Certified Teacher!
