Security Associates

The Security Associates Division comes under the direct control of the CMS Police Department. Security associates are non-sworn personnel, who are responsible for the security of the school campus they are assigned. Security associates are assigned to all K-8, middle and high schools. They also provide additional security at all morning and afternoon bus shuttle stops and afterschool events, such as football and basketball games. There are approximately 110 security associates assigned to a school throughout Mecklenburg County. There is a Security Supervisor, and four lead security associates, which are broken up into learning communities.


The Security Associates Division is lead by Security Supervisor Maria Bailey. The division is responsible for the operation and function of the security associates in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Bailey provides support services to the CMS chief of police, learning community superintendents, principals and resource officers.
